To the North but a Hair to the South

Yes we are going up North, but not quite as far as we have before. We are going North but some of us feel like we are going South. In that sense we are departing from the Norm that is true. We are leaving something that we have grown very comfortable and very accustomed to. But as with everything we do, change is an necessity.

Without change we simply stagnate. We have been in the same situation for over 22 years. There is something to be said for consistency. It has always been good to see Marco and talk about the past year, and everything that happened to him and us but;

I believe we have sold our self a little short. I for one welcome the opportunity to explore a new lake, put our boats on foreign waters. It will be exciting to look at an unfamiliar shore line and be excited by what we see. The first few days will be filled with stories of what each boat saw that day.

I really look forward to that. I also am anticipating some of the creature comforts we never have gotten to experience. Please feel free to argue with me on these points, and to add any other comments you may have. Guys, I am really need something different. Marco will be my friend for ever, but one thing I do know, is that we have an finite time left to experience new things, and I vote we try some place new every year........

Boat or No Boat

To buy a new boat or to just forget it. This is a problem which is confronting some of our members this year. Joey who's boat was totaled by a jet ski, made the decision to purchase a new boat.

Jody who's boat was destroyed by fire is contemplating the same decision. It always isn't easy. When you start thinking about all the money involved, you have to really wonder is it worth it.

You can ask yourself that a hundred times, but one thing I do know, is that when its early in the morning, and the rest of the camp is sleeping, and you get into your boat and fire that motor up, and cast those lines, and settle into the seat, ease away from the dock, get the boat into position and push the throttle up, there is no sensation like it. The boat comes to life, the front end lifts out of the water, (always gives you a little scare) and settles down on the water and skims across the glass like lake with the wind in your ears, it reminds you of a lot of things. Some as simple as "I made it, I finally have a boat," It lets you be a little bit of an adventurer, with the ability to go places where you feel know one else has ever been. The days when its just yourself and your wife enjoying an afternoon.

And most of all it lets you be one with the outdoors, if only for a fleeting minute. You know soon that you will be fishing with a bunch of guys, or pulling a tube, or water skiing, but you NEVER no NEVER forget that small slice of time when its just you and your boat , alone and one with the lake........

Enough said......
