Another Great Trip.

Well Guys,
This year certainly was different.  We went with only six guys, which was a bit less from what we normally do.  I have to tip my hat to Jody.  This trip was wrought from the beginning.  Not only were we dealing with the loss of Pop, we were down guys, which makes the buying of supplies different.

Not knowing what we were going to do, we proceeded with caution.  I knew the trip would commence, I just didn't know if I would go.  I thought long and hard about it, and I knew deep in my heart my Dad would of said go, and I did.

We found out a week before we left, that we didn't have rooms, the Travel Lodge was out of business.  Jody was able to make a quick pivot and found the Quality Inn, which had rooms available, and it was across from Finnegan's.  We had a great meal, and the Hotel had a miniature golf course, which we enjoyed immensely.

We actually had breakfast at Finnegan's the next morning, and it was very good.  We continued our trip to the north, and arrived at the community dock, only to find that we didn't have a barge for transport so we adapted, and got everything over.

Mike was hospitable as ever.  We got full Satellite TV in the cabins, and it was nice.  We didn't even bother to watch any movies,  (including JAWS).  We fished all over the lake, and although we had some anomalies with the fish finders, we still caught some fish.  The wind was also a factor during the day, and it forced the fleet in more than we would of liked.

The meals were great as always, we missed our Breakfast man (Joe) and our grill man (Greg), but Jody handled the bulk of the Breakfasts, and Carl and others took the grill, so it all got done.

We had the usual mechanical problems, 9.5 had issues with the plugs, and the Piggy Bank banged up the prop on the way back from Cross Lake, but no motor damage was incurred.  The trip to Cross Lake was fun, we didn't have much luck, but it was fun.  We also learned about low voltage and the effects it can have on Hummingbird fish finders.  It appears that you have to have a steady stream of at least 12 volts or more for adequate operation.  Ah live and learn.

We tried some Walleye fishing with Mike, at a site that he knew to be productive, but the curse of Granny Island, defeated us again.  We got several bites (Bug bites that is), but the night was beautiful, and the stars were nice to see.

The boys had to leave early on Friday, and the old guys, left around 10:00.  We traveled to Alexandria Bay, and spent the night.  We had a great meal, recommended by a local woman we met while walking, and afterwards while heading back to our room, Jody noticed a three piece band playing in a small bar.  We went in, and I can tell you that, it was one of the best live music, I have heard in a very long time.  They played for 3.5 hours straight, no breaks, and had several guest musicians and singers come up and perform.  They were incredible, and it was a great night.

Thank you guys for the great trip once again.

I did want to take a few lines and recognize a person, who never gets much credit, but only grief most of the time.  That is Jody.  Without him doing all the leg work, the calling to make sure we have a place on the lake, the figuring of meals, and the purchase of food.  He takes the trip very seriously, and watches the pennies, so that we always have enough cash to make Kielbasa, and make some money so that we can keep the price of the trip the same every year.

He cares very much about everybody having a good time, and I for one really appreciate that, and I know that he gives it his all, and we all are very grateful to have somebody like Jody to do that for all of us.  (Thanks Jody)

Thanks Guys, I for one had a great time. Enjoy each and every one. Time moves very quickly, and tends to speed up as you get older. Before you know it, your kids, will be coming up and yelling at You (LOL).

I would never trade these times for anything. We are Thick through and through, shirts are not an option, they are off for our backs for any man in need. Guys may it be that way forever.
