Places and Fund Raiser Updates

How about trying this place?

The brisk blue waters of the Reservoir attract swimmers, boaters, fishermen, picnickers and campers to its scenic shore. The Round Valley Reservoir swimming area was created by the construction of an earth dam across a narrow waterway on the west side of the reservoir, separating it from the main part of the reservoir. The reservoir covers over 2,000 acres and is approximately 180 feet deep. It has a water capacity of 55 billion gallons. The reservoir is stocked with lake trout.

There are 19 species of fish inhabiting ?????? Reservoir, including largemouth and smallmouth bass. Rainbow and brown trout are stocked annually and lake trout are abundant. The fish and Wildlife Division manages the reservoir as a trophy lake. Anglers must follow the posted special fishing regulations that apply. Fishing is subject to Division of Fish and Wildlife regulations. Fishing is prohibited in the swimming area and a valid fishing license is required.

Gregory Young with his record lake trout

Gregory Young's state record lake trout was taken from Round Valley Reservoir on May 4, 2002. Young's 32 pound, 8 ounce lake trout weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces more than the previous record taken in 2001. May 9, 2002 news release
Young was trolling from his boat when he landed the trout on 17-pound test line with a 10-pound leader. The fish, which took an hour to bring in, measured 41½ inches in length with a 25½-inch girth. It was caught in the cove near the Division of Fish and Wildlife's boat ramp.
Prominent lake trout anglers may not be surprised by this news, as they have voiced their confidence claiming “a new record is out there somewhere,” but seeing is believing. Most successful anglers catch many small fish (less than 20 inches or 3 pounds) and very few larger ones. This should not discourage anglers from trying their luck at catching big fish however, as more than 30 lake trout weighed in at over 3 pounds during this falls gillnetting including six fish weighing in at 22, 21, 19, 16, 16, and 15 pounds

In other news the Jimmy Thomas fundraiser was a complete success.
The total amount raised exceeded $10,000, and the wheelbarrow of booze went to a TCF member.
A deep thank you goes out to all who contributed.
