Vince leave your comments and correct me but let me take a quick shot at this... Ethanol.. which is blended into fuel at various concentrations has a lower energy weight. It is Hydrscopic or absorbs water.. its why ethanol is added at the pumps because if you pipe it through pipes you will be left with watered down gas. The energy of the simulated wind just speeds up the process because of the exposer to H2o in the air. Your cars gas tank is closed off.
C2H5OH + 3 o2 ---> 3 H20 + 2 CO2

Meaning that although it burns cleaner.. it is less effecient. Vehicles that use ethanol prob get up to 10% less fuel milage. The only true advantage right now to ethanol gas is that it can be made quicker vs fossil fuels. Not to mention coal is brought in to help help heat the grains. (So much for the enviromental aspect).
I cant wait for Chem 301 up in Temagami!
