Hey Guys,
I would like to take the time to thank everyone for a great trip. Although this year was filled with twists and turns, ups and downs, we still managed to get the trip in, albeit a bit disjointed, and a bit sad. We learned through this trip as we have through others, how precious the moments we get to share really are.
John and I may have had some disagreements, but we had ideas and conversation, and all members views were heard, even though it may have been through a whiskey haze, it still was good. Communication is very important, and it was important for some of us older guys to realize that the younger members really want to get involved not only with the selection of the lake, but also the actual planning of the trip.
As to the fishing, could it have been better, sure it could have. But I also remember many years at Lake Roddick, running the most productive courses only to come up short. This lake although shallow, had its moments, and research was the key to actually finding the walleye. Thank you Carl and Vince for extracting not only the location of the fish, but also the rigging to catch them, and yes Vince using all his skills actually boated a walleye, although small, still got one.
One thing that I cant stress enough is that I think everyone is finally on the same page. It doesn't matter if we fish in Maine, New York or Canada, it takes a lot of work, and with everyone helping with research and cabin searches, we can cover a lot more ground. Everyone realizes the importance of pre-planning and commitment to having a successful trip.
But the most important thing for me is I got to spend some time with people I don't get to see that often, and that to me is something I will never trade. I know everyone feels the same way. The years ahead will be filled with more twists and turns, but our steadfast friendship keeps our club together and strong.
Vince, I would like to thank you for Vince's Corner. It is very refreshing to have a sober view of the day to day activities of the TCF and everyone who reads it tells me it is very entertaining and I actually get complaints when you don't post.
Jody, once again, despite a lot of problems finding a place to fish and have fun, you did it again. Maybe we ended up close to home for a reason, it sure was nice to be able to get home to family when we needed. The house was fantastic, and I personally thought the lake, although not the best fishery, very enjoyable, and very different than any lake I have been on. We had more food than we knew what to do with, and I will never forget our 3:30 rest time at the bar.
Thanks everyone, I had a great time having a Red Stag with everyone, and the time by the fire with Jimmy, John and Vince was a lot of fun. I was glad that Carl was able to spend some time with us, and I just wish Joe and Nick could of been there as well.
Great Trip
