MEDICAL EMERGENCY!

Well folks the good news, I am O.K. I spent most of Sunday in the Emergency Room, suffering from the symptoms of a heart attack!!! Here is how the story went....

Jody and I were shopping at Cablelas for some fishing gear and other items. We met about 10:00 had a nice breakfast at the 3 C's Diner above Port Clinton. We then headed down to Cabelas to pick up the things we needed. We were on the second floor, and Jody asked me if I had every seen the shooting gallery. I never had, so we went in and he got a dollars worth of tokens, and we began to shoot. After about the fifth shot, I felt a pain, like I never felt in my left chest muscle, which also radiated down my left arm. I also felt like I broke out into a sweat.

I put the riffle down, we walked out of the gallery, and I said to Jody, "I think I just had a Heart Attack!" He asked me if I was OK and if I needed to go to the Hospital, I told him I thought I was alright, and we left shortly after. I went home and told Mary, what had happened, and that I wanted to go up to the hospital to make sure.

We drove right up, and they got me into a room and performed an EKG, and several other tests, I waited patiently for the results, with a million things running through your mind. They told me they needed to take some enzyme tests to determine if I actually had a heart attack.

About two or three hours later the doctor told me that the EKG looked O.K. and they were still going to do the other enzyme test. That came back O.K and they released me. Needless to say I am going to have a stress test done on Thursday to make sure. Hopefully this will be the end of it. WOW what a week....

Well, I went in for the stress test, and it was kind of what I expected, but a bit more, if you know what I mean. The whole thing takes about 3.5 hours. They shoot you up with some nuke stuff, make you sit for 45 minutes, then the put you in a machine that rotates while taking your picture for twenty minutes. Then you get another nuke injection and are placed on a tread mill and the keep increasing the speed and degree of pitch. You have to reach a target heart rate based on your age and weight. I had to make a heart rate of 145. My tech also told me that because of my blood pressure meds (that retard the heart rate from rising) it would be a bit before I got there. I finally made it to 145, and I pretty much felt like the last time I pushed the PT-Cruiser across the McDonalds lot to kick start it. I was totally spent, and took a while to recover, but I did it. After that the let you settle and put you in the picture machine again and finally let you go home.
But you know what, I would do it again, and it was kinda rewarding getting to the number. I didn't have to stop and know I am waiting for my appt on Monday to see how I did.

Take Care All
